Sealabour Scalp Consult

Scalp assessment

What a scalp assessment involves

A provider looks at your scalp and hair, asks about your history, and may suggest tests or a dermatologist. Here is what that usually means.

Scalp assessment in Chicago

If you are in Chicago and want someone to look at your scalp and hair, you can ask for a scalp assessment through Sealabour Scalp Consult. We pass your request to a provider in or near Chicago. We are a request service and do not examine anyone ourselves.

At the appointment, a provider usually looks at the pattern of your hair and the condition of your scalp, then asks about your medical history, medicines, diet, stress, recent illness or childbirth, and relatives with similar hair changes. They may order blood tests or refer you on to a dermatologist.

Cost and timing are set by the provider. Sending a request books nothing.

What a provider looks at

  • Where any thinning shows: the part, the crown, the temples, or all over
  • Whether hair seems to be shedding from the root or breaking along its length
  • The scalp itself: flaking, redness, oiliness, tenderness or bumps
  • Any patch or area that looks different from the rest
  • Your health history, medicines and recent life events
  • Whether relatives had a similar pattern

Good questions to ask in return: What do you think is going on? Would blood tests help here? Should a dermatologist see this? What would you want to compare at a follow-up?

Getting ready in Chicago

Getting ready starts with the request. Fill in the form with your name, contact details and a short note on what you have noticed. Sealabour Scalp Consult passes it to a provider in or near Chicago, who contacts you to arrange a time if it is a fit.

When they reach out, ask what the visit costs, how long it takes, whether they need anything from you in advance, and whether they can order blood tests or will refer you elsewhere for them. Then gather your medicine list, a rough timeline and your questions. Nothing is booked until you and the provider agree.

Questions about scalp assessment

Should I see a dermatologist instead?

If your hair loss is sudden or patchy, or your scalp is painful, bleeding, crusting or shows signs of infection, see a doctor or dermatologist. For other concerns, a provider at an assessment may also refer you to one if they think it would help.

How much does a scalp assessment cost?

Cost is set by the provider, and this site does not list prices. When a provider contacts you about your request, ask what the visit costs, what it includes, and whether tests or follow-ups are billed separately. Sending a request does not commit you to anything.

What should I bring to a scalp assessment?

A list of your medicines and supplements, rough dates of any recent illness, surgery or childbirth, any recent blood work, a few photos of your hair over time, and your questions. The questions to ask page has more ideas.
